I’m in the process of watching every star trek thing ever. DS9 was first, next was ENT, now voyager. TNG is up next. I haven’t watched most of these since they first aired. So far, it’s all been better than I remembered. Janeway kicks ass.

Same here. I’m almost done with TNG, about to start Voyager. I might give Enterprise a second chance.

Archer never developed. You never believe he would have been made a captain. The show got way better in the later seasons.

DS9 was very prescient. A great deal of what they dealt with on that show I see in our world today. Janeway is awesome, even if there are a few episodes of Voyager that are really very bad. Also Jerri Ryan...I’m sorry what was a saying? I am huge fan of the Doctor on Voyager. Robert Piccardo played that role perfectly. I liked Scott Bacula on ENT. The early seasons aren’t not bad at all. They jumped the shark with the last season though.

First Contact and Nemesis are really very good films. I still have mixed feelings about how Nemesis ends. Data finally transcends being a robot, but it’s not a happy ending. First Contact is by far my fav Trek film. The new ones are okay. Karl Urban os a perfectly cast and played Bones. But the two new films taken together are a bit too flashy and distant. It could just be the familiarity of the previous cast though.

That film has been out for like 10 years now. That’s well past the statute on spoilers. I didn’t mention specifically what happens either.

I think First Contact may actually be the best Trek film ever. And that feels weird to say.

Except it wasn’t at all. If you don’t remember the events (I know them mostly through my father), you wouldn’t realize that they’re all based on actual history and/or contemporary politics.

Insurrection always seemed like the odd film out. I always thought it was produced from a two-part episode TV script and sold as a movie. I believe this movie is the reason Nemesis did so poorly in theaters, in spite of (IMHO) being second only to First Contact among the TNG movies.

I’ve got a History degree. Humans have been doing to stupid shit since we appeared on this planet. DS9 may have based a lot of their plot on history, but they predicted a lot of what I see in our current political climate.

Current events are mostly just a rehash of hints that have happened in the past.
There's very little new under the sun.

There are 7 seasons of Voyager, some are better than others, I hope you have endurance.

Why? WoK is the popular choice, but I feel that’s only because people like Kirk’s infamous line. FC is a better film, and is still about revenge. Piccard wants revenge for what the Borg did to him during TNG. Seeing him struggle to keep his ship and crew and his humanity intact while still fighting with his inner and external demons makes FC a great ST film. It’s also good Sci-Fi.

For me it’s at best the 3rd best Trek film, (after Wrath of Kahn and Undiscovered Country), and even that is debatable, as a more than credible case can also be made for The Search for Spock.
So, I disagree that First Contact is a better film. I will stipulate that it’s the best of the Next Generation films, but it has all the same problems all Next Generation films have: It’s not much more than a double-length Next Generation episode with a larger special effects budget. Frakes directing outings have the benefit of not taking themselves too seriously, but that harms this particular outing. Also the whole “the Borg go back in time to screw with Zephram Cochrane” storyline is just too out there. Why would the Borg bother?
I also tire of most Data-related story lines. They tend to be rehashes of the similar original Spock-related story lines.
